According to the Governor of Lampung, Arinal Djunaidi, the program carried out by Photovoices International and the Coral Triangle Center is a unique and innovative approach as part of the sustainable management of crab fisheries.

"The programs that have been carried out, such as developing and increasing the capacity of women fishermen in Central Lampung, East Lampung and Tulangbawang regencies in introducing business canvases and participatory photography, as well as training in post-harvest handling finance, have been very good. Including the management of crab shell waste is a clear example of collaboration from many parties that can be adopted by other sectors. This fishery management program is very interesting as a forum to inspire women managing crab fisheries resources in Lampung Province," said the Governor

This crab management, said the Governor, aims to implement crab fish management at the right scale, namely improving the welfare of the ecosystem and crab stock while improving the social and economic welfare of stakeholders along the supply chain, activities involving more than 4000 fishermen, 1000 workers in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) collectors and mini-plans. crabs and 5 fish processing units exporting crabs with more than 1000 workers.

Governor Arinal stated that in 2021 the crab commodity occupies the number 2 position in Lampung fishery export value after shrimp with a volume of 1577 tons or a value of 516.8 billion rupiah. with the value of shrimp which is only 148,211 Rupiah per Kg.

The value per kg of crabs is relatively higher than other communities because crabs are exported in the form of ready-to-eat cans where the export destination of the crab commodity community of Lampung province to the United States through Lampung Panjang port also occupies the third largest position in Indonesia after Central Java and East Java by contributing 12 % of exports by 2020.

At the event, the Governor also expressed his gratitude for the support of Partner organizations such as Photovoices International, Coral Triangle Center and Mitra Bentala as well as various stakeholders for the good cooperation with the Lampung Provincial Government, Regency and fishing communities to realize better and sustainable fisheries management.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Lampung Province Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service, Liza Derni, said that the purpose of this activity was to provide a forum for female small crab fishermen to share stories and pictures about life in the Kuala Teladas village and the bird river, as well as inspire the formation of a learning network for female crab fishermen at the provincial level. and become a bridge for networks at the national level, as well as a medium to introduce sustainable crab fisheries to strategic partners in Lampung Province.

"Since 2020, several parties have started to pay attention to the role of women fishermen in Lampung Province, women crab fishermen in Lampung have an important role in the post-harvest process of crabs, one of which is Photovoices International and Coral Triangle Center and Mitra bentala who have implemented development and strengthening efforts. capacity of women fishermen with various trainings," he explained.

"Among them are financial literacy training for groups of fishermen and women in Central Lampung, East Lampung and Tulang Bawang regencies, then handling crab post-harvest for East Lampung Regency, then processing crab shell waste for East Lampung, Central Lampung and Tulang Bawang districts, as well as introducing Business canvas and participatory photography for Tulang Bawang Regency by holding a photo exhibition of the photovoice program and a learning networking session for women's small crab fishermen in Lampung Province," she concluded.
