Training on how to use and create an account at SSF (Small Scale Fisheries) Hub for Small Scale fishermen groups

23 June 2022, Margasari Village, East Lampung Regency, Indonesia Province

Training on how to use SSF Hub Platform / Pict by Afirzal

This training aims to enable fishermen to access and create content on the SSH Hub platform. Activities are carried out in a simple way, namely approaching fishermen at their homes/fields. Then the members of the fishing group were given an explanation about this Platform, such as its function and purpose. This training was attended by 3 members of a small-scale crab fisherman group.

Mitra bentala as an organization that accompanies fishermen explained that fishermen groups are the main figures in fisheries business actors but they also have to know and be able to access information on a national and international scale so that innovations in problem solving arise.

In line with the above, on the SSH Hub platform there is also a discussion forum that functions as a place for discussion between fishery actors, where members can give each other feedback on the topics they want to discuss.

One of the training participants, Miswan explained, was very enthusiastic and agreed with the emergence of the SSH Hub platform, because it could voice the aspirations of Small-Scale Fishermen in Indonesia, especially in the province of Lampung.

Platform usage constraints:

Miswan said "actually the obstacle we face in using this platform is that we still don't understand technology, for example in our fishing group actually not all of them can use Android and don't have laptops/PC"

Ogja from Mitra responded "regarding the device used, it does not have to use a laptop or sophisticated equipment, but it is important in this case that the content to be delivered can provide actual information in the field or from fishermen"

Feedback for platforms:

Miswan: in the process of making content posting on android, when entering a photo to be posted, the photo cannot be uploaded if the size is too large >1mb. So we had to manually compress the file size and that made it difficult for us.

The hope is that in making posts, it is quite simple, such as making captions on social media, sorry in advance

Conclusion:

Some members are able to create and understand how to access the SSH Hub platform, but practice (creating content) needs to be done regularly to get used to it.

Miswan and other group members agreed that they will continue to study this platform and in the future may look for younger fisherman members to be oriented in operating this platform.
