Hello everyone! In celebration of International Women's Day and the vital contributions that women make to small-scale fisheries around the world, we would like to hear how women contribute to your communities! Please watch some short videos from this playlist on womens’ experiences in fisheries and feel free to share your thoughts, or respond to one of the following questions in the discussion section below:

  1. How do women contribute to the health and well-being of your community? Do women in your community engage in other forms of livelihoods related to fisheries?
  2. How does your community recognize women's contributions to fisheries?
  3. What are some of the unique challenges faced by women working in small-scale fisheries/what are some of the largest challenges faced by women fishers and fishworkers in your community today?
  4. What additional measures would you like to see your community take to support the interests of women working in small-scale fisheries?

The SSF Hub will be hosting four webinars during the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA) in 2022, the first of which will take place on 22 March focusing on Women in Small Scale Fisheries. We welcome everyone to attend this webinar and additional information can be found here. We would like to share some quotes from the comments on this post during the webinar, and we will reach out to you if we would like to include your comments in the webinar. Thank you!
