This is a recording of a webinar organised by One Ocean Hub, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Danish Institute for Human Rights. The webinar was the first of two webinars, part of a dialogue series on human rights actors and fisheries, held on 1-2 February 2023.
The dialogue series explores how national and international human rights actors are using their respective mandates to promote and protect the rights of small-scale fishers, fish workers and their communities.
The first webinar focuses on on the role of national human rights institutions (NHRIs). NHRI representatives share examples of applying their NHRI mandate to address the human rights abuses and violations affecting small-scale fishers and indigenous peoples. Other key actors contribute to the following discussion on possible measures for strengthening this engagement.
